Jim's Tibetan Hotel is a beautiful place and very colourful unlike other hotels which can be quite ‘standard’ in design. As we had heard that many places in Dali are very noisy we found Jim's Tibetan Hotel at a quiet street, about a 5 minute walk to the south gate of Dali. About the rooms: they have soft beds which is a big plus as most of the beds in China are quite hard and uncomfortable. Outside the rooms is a wide balcony where you can relax sitting outside. But they also have a garden and rooftop terrace with a great view over the Erhai lake and the mountains. We would surely recommend this hotel to anybody who is looking for a peaceful place with beautiful decorations. Last but not least we want to recommend the restaurant which serves good breakfast (homebaked bread!) and on the menu is Tibetan, Chinese and western food. In the end we stayed a bit longer than planned just because we liked the place so much!! The rooms are good value for money and start from 250 yuan.
that is a new restaurant where you could find really nice cakes and pizza .
that restaurant is doing something specially for the orphanage kids. the chefs give orphans training to help them go into the society by themselves full of confidence one day. with the help of the restaurant staff , the disable orphans find their world in this restaurant.
you could hear the laughter in susan'srestaurant.
We ran into this place by incident and it was phantastic! The owners are very hospitable, helpful and always in the mood for a chat! Because they have been travelling a lot themselves, they can give travellers good advice as well. It's a good place to relax and feel at home. In addition, the food is very good and the toilets (yes, western) are wonderful and a relief after all the horrible ones we experienced in the rest of China! You should definitely visit the place! The sandwiches and burgers here were surprisingly good, but the staff working there were not helpful when it came to answering questions about booking a boat to Thailand. In fact, the waitress that I first asked said that they no longer provided that service. However, Orchid (the owner?) and the other manager were both quite helpful.
