Cafe DDS is a tastefully decorated & elegantly intimate bar, just a few metres walk to Green Lake in Kunming.
Coffee is served for foreigners especially in mind. A variety of tea for the Chinese clientele. Other beverages include beer, wine & juices.
Carolyn, the cafe owner, lived & worked in Beijing for several years. She has travelled abroad and speaks fluent English & Chinese.
Although the water here is too warm for a workout, if you're looking for a swim, the water's warm here even during the winter, unlike the pool at the Paradise Hotel. It's also much cheaper. Expect a natural swimming pool instead of some kind of nature reserve. Apparently there's an interesting cave nearby that you can descend into on a rope as well.
Find out if the lake has dried up before you go, since it often doesn't have any water in it. Other than that, it's a nice scenic area, like much of the outskirts of town.
The place is really small, and it's hard to argue that the giant prayer wheel has any cultural significance
