The Mongols gained fame in the 13th century when under Chinggis KHAN
they conquered a huge Eurasian empire. After his death the empire was
divided into several powerful Mongol states, but these broke apart in
the 14th century. The Mongols eventually retired to their original
steppe homelands and later came under Chinese rule. Mongolia won its
independence in 1921 with Soviet backing. A Communist regime was
installed in 1924.

Dali is one of the most interesting places in China, with the local Bai people having a higher level of consciousness than the residents of most other places. Immaculately clean, and a huge variety of food, both International and local.

We were offerred many useful advice to get around in the area. Nice just to hang out in the lounge with a chat around the oven or in the garden bathing the sun. Surely a go-again place for me and my friends alike.

The kitchen and bathroom are poorly cleaned, and the rest of the common areas look like they may never be cleaned. Considering how few guests there are, there are probably months worth of empty beer bottles everywhere, and there are also dirty dishes, hair in the bathroom. The shower is not warm. The beds are hard (like wood with a thin pad on top). There was no A/C in the room (only a complaint of mine because they say they ha
