There are reports of a new service offering a 16 day bus ride from London to Urumqi. I find 2.5 day trips hard to deal with, so I don't think I'd be man enough to be able to handle 16.

Is the Great Firewall of China an issue with expats in particular in Yunnan? Do you have better access to websites than previous few years? Can anyone tell me for example if livejournal.com is accessible in Yunnan? How about facebook.com ?
