Speakeasy has been one of the only places to go in Kunming for years, especially for live music and parties and it is still hard to find a more genuine bar feel anywhere in China.  Yes the toilets smell and I agree that the chinese partner is a liability but the Western partner is about as friendly and helpful a person as you'll ever meet.
