Q's about Tipping In China

Submitted by tangatawhenua (14) on Tue, 2008-08-12 05:41.

Hi all,

Well, finally next month we will be off to China! We are doing a tour from Hong Kong to Beijing overland and are counting down the days Mr. Green

The issue of tipping has been raised and after having a look around the net, I thought this would be the best place to ask some questions, so if someone could answer them for me, it would be most appreciated Mr. Green

1. Do Chinese people on a Chinese Tour in China tip?

2. Is tipping also known as "Stupid Foreigner Tax"?  *LOL*

Cool live music

Nice place, that suits my student purse Smile,

Not techno music all the way, it has real live music too, on sundays and sometimes even saturdays.

The oldest bar in Shanghai

Review of Judy's Too by lubo lee (0), July 23, 2008 5 stars

This dance bar has worked the formula for a successful Shanghai venue to perfection with blasting pop hits and reasonably priced drinks. When the tequila starts taking its effect, this is a fun place to be, while trying to piece the experience together the next day is decidedly not.

24/7 Mediterranean Bistro

Review of Tasca by lubo lee (0), July 23, 2008 5 stars

Entering the 24-hour scene, this venue offers a variety of intercontinental fare from burgers and paninis to pizzas, paellas, tapas, bar food and even pancakes. Late night crowds can enjoy drinks from the extensive drink list while those with the midnight munchies or in need of lunch on the go can take advantage of fresh take-away sandwiches and other deli offerings.

The right Spot

Review of The Spot by lubo lee (0), July 23, 2008 5 stars

With a revamped interior and a menu featuring German specialties, laffa bread sandwiches, and barbecued ribs, this spot has become a favorite lunch stop for those working near the Portman area. During the summer, one can bet that it will be difficult to find a seat on the outdoor deck area at happy hour.

Meimei's 非常好的!

Review of Mei Mei Cafe by meesterbeeg (0), July 1, 2008 5 stars

Meimei's staff was extremely helpful and cordial.  Not only was there much info and assistance to be found at their place, i witnessed many travelers being treated well, also.  Staying a week in Banna, i visited Meimei's many times - it was default central for meeting up.  The chow is excellent for the price, the cool bevs a welcome respite from Banna's tropical 'sensuousness' (the kind that makes your clothes stick to ya).  The sisters are familiar with many parts of their Yunnan homeworld, and can point you in a direction that suits you.  Backpackers welcome!
