Baisha Village 白沙村

Welcome to Yunnan,Lijiang,Baisha (雲南,麗江,白沙 )

Outside of the tourist trap of Lijiang's old town 麗江古城 is a quaint little village called Baisha 白沙村... I have been living, teaching and working here since we came here two years ago on a summer trip... We have a traditional Naxi courtyard in a small sub-village of Baisha callled Mudu village 木都. Baisha consists of 12 smaller villages and a small street called Baisha Jie for tourism. It is the original village-home of the Naxi minority. This wonderful valley once called "the forgotten kingdom" by the Russian Daoist who lived here in the 1930-40's.. It is situated at the foothills of the Himalaya's near the beatiful Jade Dragon Snow Mountain.....I spend most of my free time collecting mushroom, medicinal herbs, learning Chinese-Naxi, writing the Dongba scripts-pictographs and much more....In my opinion it is a much nicer place to stay-visit than Lijiang... I will write more details on this place and upload some video-pictures later.
