Shabatai is a very nice place for coal, if you like coal.   The coal workings are along a narrow north-south zone, and the strata are good for looking for very early (Carboniferous) fossil plants.  [REF:  Coal-bearing strata and flora of Late Carboniferous and Early Permian in the Shabatai area area, Ningxia.
