Informations on Shangri-la

Yalia (2) 于 周六, 2006-04-15 04:10 提交。

Hi there,

We're travelling in a group of 4 and will be going to Shangri-la from Kunming on the 16th May by flight. We need some informations which are as follows:

1) will it be possible to hire a car with a driver to take us around in Shangri-la? Can you recommend us an agent.

2) from Shangri-la, we will be going to Lijiang and would like to know if there is a possibility to hire a minivan or a car to bring us there. Or should we take a bus. Where can we book the bus tickets.

3) what is the temperature in Shangri-la around mid-May.

Thanking you in advance for your assistance and looking forward to hear from you.

Transportation from Shangri-la to Lijiang

Yalia (2) 于 周五, 2006-04-14 08:52 提交。

Hi there,

We're looking for an agency to book for a transportation from Shangri-la to Lijiang. We'll be going to Kunming on 14th May and leaving from Shangri-la to Lijiang on 19th May. We're travelling in a group of 4.

Do anyone out there know a Micheal Yang Travel booking office in Dali? He was recommended by a traveller as a reliable booking agent unfortunately his email address mentioned is incorrect. Mentioned was: micheal-yang44@hotmail.com. Appreciate if anyone knows his correct email address.

Thank you for attention and hope to get some informations.

Let the peasants own their land

wtanaka (648) 于 周五, 2006-04-14 06:56 提交。

The Economist has an short article arguing that China would solve all sorts of problems by allowing peasants to own land.  The argument is a bit hand-wavy (personally, I think that the doomsday scenario mentioned in the article of farmers all selling their land en-masse and moving to cities which would then sprout big shanty towns rings quite true), but the article has a bit of a summary history of land ownership in China, which I found interesting to read.

You get your 15 minutes in China too

wtanaka (648) 于 周五, 2006-04-14 05:32 提交。

Back in October, these videos of two Chinese college students lip-synching to Backstreet boys songs was making its rounds around the internet.  They're (now?) called the "Back Dormitory Boys", and have (along with their Counterstrike-playing roommate who can be seen in the background in the videos) become quite famous.
