On Friday the 4th we are gonna celebrate 2 years platypusmusic.cn and 2 years electronic lounge. Douglas just came back from Tokyo after a busy month of jam sessions and recording.
As a special we invite DJ MAEL to play a yet in Chengdu unheard music genre: GRIME/DUBSTEP with a fresh sack of vinyl from he very heart of London's underground music scene, making him the one and only DJ in mainland China to spin grime/dubstep.
Mael's recently working as a recident DJ in one of Beijing's biggest clubs CARGO and organizing Beijing's biggest regular drum'n'bass party - returning to the capital he's gonna play at the side of dnb pioneer GOLDIE.
During the party we also show clips of the underground scene in Beijing, Kunming and Chengdu.

BEIJING (Reuters) - Chinese vets and dentists are considering implanting three false teeth into a giant panda injured in the wilds of the northern province of Shaanxi, Xinhua news agency said.
The operation would help the panda -- who also suffered a fractured skull, broken legs and chest injuries after an apparent fall into a ravine -- to take in more nutrition and help it recover, Xinhua said late on Wednesday.
"With the three teeth, the giant panda will be able to eat bamboo with ease," Xinhua quoted Li Liujin, a military hospital doctor, as saying.
The animal, found by tourists on July 1 by a river at a scenic spot near Shaanxi's provincial capital, Xian, had already sparked a frantic hunt for panda blood plasma for a transfusion.

this is a some what erie little monastery hosting two or three monks. if you know the history of the place it is well worth the visit. the kora is a peaceful walk, but the monestary it self... is for you to deside. taxi out should cost ~ 80-120rmb depending on the amount of people you squeeze into the cab. plan on spending an hour out here. be sure to pin down the price with the cab driver before hand.
the villagers were charging 5rmb a head to get in. looking at the hotel down the road one can't realy blame them.

Ducked in here based on a guidebook (maybe Lonely Planet?) recommendation. The food was brutal, the service awful, and it was filthy. To cap off a miserable experience, the under-age waitress propositioned us (for a small fee) after we paid the check. A highly uncomfortable experience.

Loved this place. Everything from the hospitality, to the Guinness, to the satellite tv. Philip and Hsiaoping can talk about anything: The Sopranos, the state of Education in the west, and, of course, Philips beloved Manchester United. The pool table is great, and the bathroom is, quite simply, the cleanest in China. If you are in Lijiang, duck your head in and say hello.
