I have a two week volunteer assignment in Kunming this January. At the end of the assignment, I would like to visit Lijiang, Dali and Shangrila. I understand that Kunming is on the mild side -- perhaps a little bit warmer than Denver Colorado -- in January. How is the weather in these cities in January and are they generally accessible?

I thought about flying from Kunming to Dali and going on to Lijiang and Shangrila by bus. Any suggestions?
