Shamelessly stolen from some mailing list:

QUESTION:

China's landscape is never dull or boring. China is a land of extremes in climate and landscapes that makes travel fascinating. Whatever your travel adventure is, it will not be dull, boring or repetitive. China has lush green rainforests, fertile savannas and deserts, as well as everything in between. One of China's great geographical features is called the Gobi Desert. What language is the word 'Gobi' from and what does it mean?

A) Mandarin, it means "sand"
Cool Mongolian, it means "desert"
C) Tibetan, it means "sand"
D) Kazakh, it means "great emptiness".

ANSWERS:

If you said (or guessed) B you are correct. In the Mongol language, Gobi, one of the world's great deserts, means 'desert'. That Mongol logic will get you every time!
