The Zhongdian airport is actually called the Diqing airport, since it's the airport for the whole prefecture. You can find it 6km to the west of town. A taxi should cost you Y10 (possibly Y15) and take 10 to 15 minutes. Which flights are available change every week, so if you would like to be sure that your flight is available, you need to call ahead. Contact information is on the China Eastern page.

Flights (generally speaking)

• Kunming: 50 minutes, 3-4 per day
• Lhasa: 1 hour 45 minutes, 1430 yuan (no permit), daily flights starting July 8, 2005
• Guangzhou: 2 hours 20 minutes, 1750 yuan, several times a week

Tickets can be purchased at China Eastern, or at the airport.
