Hey, I asked my friend to give u some tips as she just came back from there. so here it is:

i am just back from malipo, spend 10 days on the trip from hekou-maguan-dulong-malipo and tianbao. dulong 都龙, a small county, about 25km far from maguan,6 yuan by taxi just taken outside the gate of maguan bus station. the sunday market there is interesting. u could see many miao, zhuang minorities people at that time. and also u could meet vietnamese women selling in the market of hekou. take care ur passport, i think no difficulties to encounter.
