In ancient times, Quyuan, a patriotic poet, committed suicide by throwing himself into the Miluo River. The story of his death and the search for his body started the tradition of Dragon Boat Festival.

Unfortunately, zongzi seems to be hard to find in this town.
Funny story -- I mentioned this "boat racing" festival to some locals here last year, and they all laughed at me and asked me what I was talking about. They said I could go make a boat and race it if I wanted.

Great pictures of zong zi. Tangying ...
The foreign affairs office of the university I am at in Kunming, delivered zong zi to each of the foreign teacher's apartments today.
I tasted one. but I like spicy food better. I gave the others to a Chinese friend

Wocca, if you were into Zongzi, you could get them in bulk at the Dong Feng Dong Lu Carrefour.

I'm not really much of a rice eater. It tends to just bloat me. Could be my foreign metabolism

Zongzi? In Malaysia, we call 'dumpling' in English. Actually, there's a Malay version of 'Zongzi' in Malay society, it's made of bamboo and we called it as 'Lemang'.
Mum served some dumplings yesterday. Lovely. But can't take too many as it's bad to digestive system.
<will control my appetite>
