Dear Sirs,

On your site stay a very interesting article about the Temple of Wu Wei Si (in the Canshang mountains). What I want is to stay there at the period of four weeks to train Tai-Chi-Kung-Fu (from 16 January till 10 February 2006). Can you give me the address and especially a telephone-number to contact someone who can train me over there? I come from The Netherlands and with the help of a girlfriend who can speak the Chinese language, perhaps she can make a statement that I can come (so well training, eating and sleeping in the Temple).

I hope that I can get that information from you,

With kind regards,

Machiel Broekema

P.s. may be too much asked, also information about flights from Amsterdam till Dali

the temple is in the hills just out side Dali. I don't think they have a phone, but I've been wrong many times before. if it is the place I'm thinking of, they don't pubisize them selves, and have been know to ask travel writers not to write about them in the guide books. go to Dali, you'll find it soon enough if you're looking for it. the doors are always open.

of course we could be talking about two different places. but I don't think so.

You should get a longer stay tourist visa -- on your application say that you'd like to study Chinese martial arts, and you should be able to get several months of validity on your tourist visa for the same price as a 1 month visa.  Once you get to Dali, just ask around, you'll be able to find people that know about it and how to get there.

As far as flights to and from Europe, all I know is all the people around here that have looked for flights have been complaining about how expensive they are.  I think it might be the rising gas prices.  The nearest international airport to Dali is Kunming International Airport (airport code KMG), and you should be able to find flights there.  From there, you can take a domestic flight to Dali's airport, or you could just take one of the many busses that go back and forth every day.

If you know any ethnic Chinese folk in Amsterdam who might go visit China now and then, you should ask them what travel agents they use to buy tickets.  I got a surprising deal on my last flight to China by using a travel agent that my Chinese coworker suggested.
