Shanghai police are investigating an online offer of babies for sale posted on eBay's Chinese Web site, Eachnet.
The sale of children and women is a nationwide problem in China, where stringent rules on family planning allow couples to have just one child, at least in cities. They are bought or abducted and sold to couples who want another child, a future bride for a son or a household servant.
The seller offered baby boys for 28,000 yuan ($3,450) and girls for 13,000 yuan ($1,600), in an advertisement posted on Oct. 16
No children were actually sold before the ad was removed.

Interesting articles, wtanaka
I have heard of baby girls being privately offered
for adoption for Y10,000 in a northern province
No doubt, it occurs elsewhere as well ...
