Hi there, we were googling the net and found your site, fantastic!! We are undertaking an overland trip from Singapore to Delhi and we are intending to pass through China. We really need some local advice and were hoping we could meet some lovely people here to help us out. We are thinking of getting on a boat?/ship?/ferry? from Chiang Saen in Thailand and heading up the Mekong to the port of Jinghong...I guess our first questions are about that trip...is it easy to get tickets? Any idea of Costs?

Next we are then thinking that once in Jinghong, we could make our way overland to Lhasa. We know a train runs through to Lhasa, but have no idea of where we could meet up with this train route from Jinghong.

 And!!! Then finally...we were very keen to overland it by bus?/jeep? from Lhasa to Kathmandu.

We know this would mean many different visas and permits...but we are determined people and are very keen to do this, so we are willing to put in the time to achieve this...
