I would love some suggestions

ancient (5) 于 周一, 2005-12-05 19:31 提交。

Hi,

I will be travelling from Hong Kong to Beijing, but dont really want to simply jump on a train.  I would love to take in some cool places on the way.  Maybe travelling through Jiangxi Anhui, Shandong and Hebei (this just presents as a good path.

Is this a crazy way to go? Should I be looking at a different route?  Am I missing some must see places?

I read on this site that I shouldnt miss these

1. The great wall.
2. Terracota soldiers at Xi'An.
3. The Forbiden city. Beijing.
4. Lijiang old town. Yunnan province.
5. The YangTze river.

Hard Seat - Soft Seat?

tangatawhenua (14) 于 周五, 2005-11-25 22:33 提交。

Hi all,

Could someone kindly explain to me if a hard seat is just a wooden single seat or a wooden bench and where do you put your backpacks when travelling by train - can they be put under your seat or are they stored somewhere else?  Any other good info about the hard seats / soft seats?

Thank you for your time :-)

Does anyone know if there is direct bus from Dali (or Xiaguan) to the Nujiang river area, such as Fugong? If so, how many hours is the ride? Schedule info? Thanks.

Need a job in India to fund your backpacking habit? Work in a call center.

wtanaka (648) 于 周六, 2005-11-19 14:15 提交。

Apparently, some British backpackers have started taking jobs in Indian call centers for Indian wages (350 GBP a month), in order to continue funding their travels around the globe.  I don't know about you, but if I were earning 350GBP a month here in Yunnan, I'd be well ahead of the game.
