nice little ear to the ground hole in the wall you've got here. watch out for the men in the black jackets. and I don't mean Nongbu. though maybe you should watch out for him too, he's trouble. Wink

just make sure you say that with a cali surfer dude accent. Dali, man. though if the gf comes back with me maybe Weixi. you know what they say about winter, if you can't put it to use, who needs it ?

Yunnan, don't know. Back Country winter this year for sure. brush up on some needed skills, and do some snow sliding with my boy Rosco, amust others.

got some local photos I could dump on your site, up you seem to have hidden the upload function????

nice one of Amy, though she may not think so. Wink

good point about the upload function, duuuude. I'll add that to my big and growing todo list.

Whatcha need to do is navigate on over to the "Zhongdian" page (you can find a link to it on the main page), and then click on "Upload a photo of this place". You can actually click that link from any page (like if you wanted to upload a picture of a particular bar Wink, you'd find that bar page and click 'upload photo' from there). The idea is that each photo is attached to a specific place, and eventually can be put on display on a world map (see this for a proof of concept)

Definitely let me know if you run into any problems when uploading though.

Nice picture. That doesn't happen to be you flying off the mountain does it?

I like the consept. got the photos up no problem. still it would be easier if you could navigate it from the photo page, from there select the city/place. then go back and have the option of uploading more photos.

also a good idea to get your site some notice it to have a water mark that shows up on the enlarged vertion of the pictures. the biglines one is a good example.

not me BTW. Rosco. he's the Twisted Evil

weixi, small by most standers, but a very nice place. not that I've spent much time there or anything, but I likes it.

Good suggestions. I do think the photo section is going to be the next thing I work on, after expanding the database to include other countries (so I can upload my own travel photos. Wink ) Does "Back Country Winter" mean you're not coming back to China at all this year?

the Zhongdian grape vine has some selective screening too it. feed wholy I'm sure by the hopes of those two clowns around the corner. no, this winter I'm in a van by the river, as opposed to a couch in a bar. too much rancid yak butter tea amungst other things. late next summer I'm hoping.

hey; have you thought of having an outdoor section where you could put up detailed trekking route info and what not. it would be a good way to feed off the intrest and touch on the vast potental of the area. even if it was restricted to the out the back door type of hiking and only touched on a few of the the well known bigger trekks like the Kora Kawagebo.

you've probaly got lots to do already, just tossing out ideas.

has Kevin washed up there yet?

man those google images have come a long ways in the last 6 month.

Jason mentioned something vague which gave me the impression that you were having weird ideas like this.

I'd love to do this, but don't have the knowledge of the trails around here. Google maps would be perfect for this kind of thing because it allows you to draw lines which could be used for the trail map (and you could zoom in and out). It wouldn't be too hard to do. If I put something up like that, would you be willing to add some information that you know to that section?

He hasn't dropped in yet, but I should go wander around and find out at some point.

This sounds like a great idea to me. I am sure it would attract attention. Cool

Nothing too complex would be required WRT the forum. Contributors can submit their own ideas, which may only be on a fairly small scale, such as an afternoon's or morning stroll. Zhongdian has some interesting spots, such as Shudu Lake & Napa Lake

Trekking on any scale seems to be a rather untapped thing here in China.
