The story of the junk left behind in Shangri-La by the production of the movie "The Promise"
These garbage even caused the impoverished Chunzhong and Tunzhu "tremendous economic losses." Chunzhong said: "A few of our cows ate the plastic sheets that were left behind from the tent construction. They could not digest it and they died." The old man said that a small calf is worth 300 yuan and a small yak is worth 1,000 yuan. Tunzhu would really like someone to accept responsibility for their losses, but he does not know whom to demand compensation from.

Baishui Tai is in Zhongdian or Lijiang? I thought I've seen a picture of it near Yulong Mountain. Are there many Baishui Tai in Yunnan?
Anybody knows when will this flower show be held? By the way, is Easter a high season for Yunnan? Will they increase the rates/prices? Thanks!
Hi All,
my first post
I am planning for the second time to organize a SideCar Trip in China
We did ( 5 bikes, 9 people) Urumuqi => Kashgar last year, and it was amazing !!!
This year (may) i would like to do a trip in Yunnan, 7 bikes 13 people, 10 to 13 days
Starting in KM do you have any suggestion / advice for the trip, i am looking for fun roads (not highways) where we can find something off the beaten tracks. The bikes can do 150 to 300 km a day on fair roads.
any information on my XJ trip don't hesitate to contact me
from China you can check the website : http://bertie.2-minute-website.com/phy/fred/2005/vacation/0504xinjiang/index.html
So on the way past one of the massive construction projects in Kunming, I noticed ads on the construction debris wall for "Kunming's Old Street" (昆明老街) which promised to be a great cultural experience. Is Kunming trying to cash in on the successes that Dali and Lijiang have had in creating "old town" experiences? Will it work? Probably.
But good grief.
I was hoping for some suggestions about the route/plan for travelling in Yunnan. Of course, I would like to cover all the major spots. Need some advice about how many days to spend on each place and also the best transportation to take. I would prefer train to bus as I get car sick sometimes. Thanks!
My girlfriend and I are planning to travel in Dali for about 10 days, would you like to give us more suggestion? First of all, I should describe our situation, I will come back to China around Christmas holiday, actaully, we are not traveling at that moment, because I just want to take my girlfriend to there and have a good rest. You know, currently my girlfriend takes too much pressure from hers job working in a multination bank in Guangzhou, and she will take hers IELTS exam in Febrary 2006, so I want this travel not the real travel, because during the days in Dali I will help her to prepare for the IELTS exam. Here, I want to tell what my requirements, we need a room, it doesn't matter hotel or guesthouse, but the price should be reasonable, and should have bathroom, toliet and internet access (we have laptop).
I thought there was a post about this already, but I can't find it.
There's a plan to construct a dam on Tiger Leaping Gorge, which will fill with water one of the more well-known tourist attractions in Yunnan. Sean's Guesthouse will supposedly be under several meters of water when the dam is fully finished.
I'm not sure if the plan is 100% yet. Many locals in Zhongdian seem to have "heard something about it," but not much more.
According to this site:
The Lijiang authorities are also happy to see the Jinanqiao dam get under way, given that the scheme represents US$50 million a year in tax revenue once power generation begins. The city government regards the dam as its No. 1 priority since its current annual revenue is just US$25 million.
Does anyone know the dates for the horse festival in 2006? I'm going to try to find out and post the answer here, but in case someone already knows...
