Hi all Smile

After we have cruised the Li River we would like to cruise the Yangtze river, so could someone let us know how to get from  Guilin by bus and / or train and would it be easier to get to Yichang or Chongqing from Guilin?

Thank you for your time :)

Accomodation in Bejing/Xian/Hong Kong

Soumis par caspar (11) le dim, 2006-01-08 17:09.

Does anyone know a good web site to book accomodation in these cities?

Can anyone recomend a good hotel that is reasonably priced and close to the city center?

Can you book hotels and train tickets with a single company to gain discount?

Soumis par wtanaka (648) le jeu, 2006-01-05 14:49.

There's a budget airline called "Viva Macau" that's going to start up in June with flights to Asia, the Middle East, and Europe.

Linyi on the map now

Soumis par BramvanVught (2) le mar, 2006-01-03 02:26.

Treehouse peeps, thanx a million for putting the Linyi station in the train schedules.

 Another question:

Do you know anything about travelling from the china mainland to Japan by boat/ferry?

I'm planning a trip for the springfestival with the first destination Harbin and afterwards I want to spend a week in Japan. I found a boat from Qingdao but that one doesn;t go to the Japan mainland. The other one I found goes from Shanghai. But maybe there is another way. Something more easy to go from the northern region towards Jap.

thanks for any usefull hints,

Underrated Travel Items

Soumis par wtanaka (648) le lun, 2006-01-02 14:34.

What are often-forgot, under-rated, or otherwise extremely useful things to bring along with you when you travel?  Bonus points to things that are both useful and small/light.  I'll start the list off here:

  • Earplugs (which I forgot to bring with me).  Useful for sleeping through road noise, snoring, or other noises you can hear through walls and windows.
  • Compass (the magnetic kind, not the circle-drawing kind).  Useful since many maps aren't all that precise or accurate.  Lets you know you're still going in the right direction if you haven't arriv

Suggested Routes Train or Plane

Soumis par caspar (11) le mer, 2005-12-28 20:58.

I am planning to visit China at the end of July and begining of August.

I can only stay for two to three weeks as I am restriected with time but want to see Bejing and Hong Kong (where I might be able to meet friends).

I have tired to get cheap flights between Bejing and Hong Kong but the cheapest avaliable via the internet from the UK are £210.  Are their any low cost airlines operating this route?  Where is the best place to book this type of flight?

I am tempted to travel by train but the online agents seem to be selling this through ticket at aroudn £110 or soft class. I know I will be paying over the odds and would like to book locally.  Any suggestions.
